We are seeking a Senior Algorithm Engineer to lead the development and refinement of numerical algorithms for advanced building optimization solutions. In this role, you will enhance algorithm performance, expand functionality for diverse equipment types, and support autonomous building capabilities. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will diagnose and resolve algorithm issues, implement fixes, and contribute to Python and MATLAB-based code development. This position offers significant impact on energy efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability in building management, all within a collaborative, remote-friendly environment. Ideal candidates combine strong engineering expertise with practical software development and problem-solving skills.
Accountabilities :
- Develop, implement, and maintain numerical algorithms that drive building optimization solutions.
- Enhance existing algorithms to support new equipment types and configurations and improve optimization performance.
- Review, debug, and improve code written by other engineers to ensure correctness and maintainability.
- Collaborate with site, modeling, and product teams to identify, diagnose, and resolve reported issues.
- Develop and maintain test cases to validate algorithm accuracy and performance.
- Contribute to autonomous building capabilities, including Python module development for airside equipment optimization.
- Use project management tools (e.g., JIRA) to track progress, plan tasks, and prioritize work.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering field.4+ years of applied engineering experience, preferably with HVAC or building systems.Proficiency in MATLAB for developing, debugging, and maintaining algorithm code.Familiarity with Python and numeric packages (NumPy, SciPy) for algorithm development.Understanding of optimal-control strategies such as model-predictive control, dynamic programming, or reinforcement learning.Knowledge of HVAC equipment including chillers, cooling towers, and AHUs.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.Preferred Qualifications :
Graduate degree in building energy optimization or related discipline.8+ years of applied engineering experience.Experience with numerical optimization techniques (linear / nonlinear programming, mixed-integer programming, metaheuristics).Familiarity with Python data-science packages (Pandas, Scikit-Learn) and C#.Experience modeling building systems and performing mass / energy balances.Prior experience writing and debugging numerical simulations and using JIRA for project tracking.Benefits
