Nancytoppingbazin is hiring : Artist in Hampton

NANCY TOPPING BAZIN’S art is displayed continuously at the D’Art Center (740 Boush St., Norfolk) since 2017. Until the end of January 2024, she had also displayed her work for eighteen years at The Artists Gallery in Virginia Beach (at VBAC 532 Virginia Beach Blvd.). From 2002-2015, Nancy’s work was shown at the Riverview Gallery and for most of her career, her work has been shown continuously at The Gallery Shop (420 High St., Portsmouth), which is temporarily closed. From 2007-2011, Nancy was one of the five Managing Artists and continuous exhibitors at Pembroke 4 Art Gallery. In addition to these galleries in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth, Nancy displayed her work for extended periods of time in galleries located in Smithfield, Hampton, Newport News, and Richmond. Locations for her solo exhibits include the Virginia Children’s Museum, Riverview Gallery, the Norfolk Botanical Garden, Bayside Library, the Central Library of Virginia Beach, Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalists, and For Arts Sake Gallery in Henrico, VA. In 2017, her painting “Bird Watchers” was one of forty-three selected (out of 500) to be enlarged on commercial vinyl for a Drive Through Art Gallery on Sewells Point Road in Norfolk. She has had paintings juried into local, statewide, regional, national, and international exhibits. As juror of the June 2018 Gloucester Arts Festival exhibit, Jeff Harrison, Curator Emeritus of the Chrysler Museum, said of her whimsical bird paintings :

“Creating an entire world is an uphill battle for any artist, but Nancy Topping Bazin has done just that, populating a whimsical realm of fantastic feathered creatures, a world of brilliant color and bold, semi-abstract patterns. It’s a charmed place of pure imagination that offers hours of joyful contemplation.”

Jurors have given Nancy seventy-three awards for her paintings. She has published a book titled Why I Love to Paint Birds (2015). Her art is often described as unique, intuitive, happy, fun, and, most of all, whimsical.
