This is a key role in our newsroom and a great opportunity for someone keen on delving into how artificial intelligence, ambient dictation and other groundbreaking technologies are quickly evolving the business models for health systems, hospitals and insurers during a time of unprecedented change in the $5 trillion U.S. healthcare industry.

We're seeking an astute and enterprising reporter eager to find new ways of telling stories. The right candidate has good news judgment and is able to break news and juggle daily stories along with analysis and enterprise. We have a sophisticated audience that includes industry leaders at hospitals, insurers, physician groups, tech firms and other vendors and policymakers. Smart journalism is Modern Healthcare's hallmark and what sets us apart from our competition, and we're looking for the right reporter to join our collaborative team.

Modern Healthcare is based in Chicago but will consider remote work from a state listed on our career site. See below for a list of work locations and our hybrid policy if within a commutable distance from an office. You will be expected to work Central Time Zone hours if remote.

• Cover the evolving role of digital health and technology in healthcare, including artificial intelligence and related innovations.
• Produce clear, accurate, balanced, and timely reporting; break news and develop enterprise stories.
• Engage a sophisticated audience of industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with editors and other reporters in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Adapt to remote or hybrid work arrangements as applicable and maintain open communication with editors.

Qualifications

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Pay Transparency Disclosure : The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000.

The final salary offering will consider experience, accomplishments and location. Crain also offers competitive benefits including retirement plan contributions and bonus opportunities based on individual and company performance.
