COMMUNITY WIDE SCHEDULER
POSITION OVERVIEW
Coordinates and schedules services among physician offices and the hospital.
Coordination and scheduling of services among physician offices and hospital.
Provides training and support for Community-wide Schedulers.
Responsible for precertification, preauthorization preparation of all documentation required to process all scheduled procedures for outpatient services.
Contacts patient and / or physicians office and third party payers to assure all necessary demographic information as well as all insurance information has been confirmed as accurate.
Ensures necessary information is obtained at time of scheduling to check for medical necessity and initiates ABN (Advanced Beneficiary Notice) by contacting the patient and notifying the physician office prior to patients arrival for non-covered services.
Coordinates co-pays and deductibles with the patient, Registrar, and Financial Counselors..
Coordinates Medicaid / Famis and other required eligibility referrals.
Assists Registrars with pre-registrations, direct and emergency room registrations as needed.
Update physician offices as necessary with updated local medical review policies, (LMRPs), to ensure staff is up-to-date with policies for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, (CMS).

REQUIREMENTS
Education :
High School Diploma or GED
Experience :
Three to four years experience in the medical field is preferred.
Expanded knowledge of medical terminology and insurance requirements is required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required :
Ability to organize and control workflow in a constantly changing work environment.
Ability to type 30 words per minute.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office preferred.
