You will discover a culture of teamwork, compassion, and an opportunity for professional growth.\n\nPOSITION OVERVIEW : \n\nResponsible for assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients and their families at the time decision for procedure is made. Assure surgical optimization through intake of a health history and identify potential risk factors that may require additional evaluation prior to procedure. Assist in determining admit status and location for procedures. Gather records from outside facilities that might assist in obtaining insurance authorization and accurate ASA classification for procedure. Order pre-operative studies as outlined by GFC-Anesthesia guidelines and communicate abnormalities to the physician. Place orders for procedure as directed by the physician. Cover vacancies within the Endoscopy department when needed and provide triage for Endoscopy patients when needed. Functions in the multidisciplinary team and serves as a patient advocate, liaison, advisor and educator to assist patient with navigating the continuum of care. Triaging of Endoscopy referrals to assure accurate and timely access. Support patients in their plan of care and ensure appropriate follow up for all Endoscopy needs. Gives directions to : LPN's, CMA's CNA's and RN's. Receives direction from : Providers and department leadership.\n\nEDUCATION : \n

• Graduate of an accredited program\n
• Follows most current standards for continuing education requirements as dictated by State / Federal licensure requirements\n\nEXPERIENCE : \n
• At least 3 years of experience in nursing\n
• Experience in Endoscopy, preferred\n\nLICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS : \n
• Current RN License\n
• BLS\n\nKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES : \n
• Medical Terminology\n
• Basic Nursing Principles and Procedures\n
• Keyboarding Skills\n
• Communication skills, both written and oral.\n
• Time management, multitasking, performs research on clinical protocols and assists physicians to develop and maintain protocols.\n
• Ability to provide empathetic and supportive counseling to patients with life-threatening disease.\n
• Work effectively as a team member\n
