Test Technician – Generators

Location : Milwaukee, WI 53208

Hire Type : Full-time, Direct Hire

Pay : $30–$35 / hour + overtime eligibility

Overview :

We are seeking a Test Technician to perform post-assembly inspection, mechanical, and electrical testing on utility-scale generators, including new, repaired, and prototype units. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical testing, vibration testing, and functional tests on large mechanical and electrical assemblies. Safety, precision, and adherence to quality standards are critical in this role.

Key Responsibilities :

Perform high-voltage, vibration, functional, and other electrical tests on generators ranging from 20k lbs to 130k lbs and 3–5+ MW output.

Follow SOPs, blueprints, and schematics to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

Document and track all testing, inspection results, and time associated with jobs in the company systems.

Collaborate with production and test engineers to schedule activities and support heat run and R&D testing.

Cross-train in multiple areas (Incoming Inspection, Test / Tollgate, Faro) and train new employees once certified.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe work practices following 6S methodology, EHS standards, and company policies.

Operate tools, precision instruments, and equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts (certification provided if needed).

Identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications :

Associates degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or related field, or 4+ years of relevant experience.

Minimum 1 year as a test technician in a manufacturing environment; experience with electrical systems, power converters, or inverters preferred.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, inspection / testing techniques, and troubleshooting.

Ability to follow detailed instructions, interpret blueprints, and use measuring and testing equipment.

Strong attention to detail, reliability, and safety awareness, especially when working with high-voltage equipment.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

OSHA-10

First Aid / CPR

Overhead Crane & Forklift Certification

NFPA 70E
