American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring Level I trauma experience and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 24-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within an acute care Level I trauma hospitalCare for post-cardiac surgery patients, Empella, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic, ECMO, esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumectomy, and TAVR casesPatient ratios are primarily 1 : 1 to 1 : 2, with higher acuity requiring more intensive nurse supportUse Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems12-hour day shifts with 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule and coverage for 2 out of 4 major holidaysFloating required to other ICUs and tele units where the typical ratio is 4 : 1, with travelers floating first before staffMust be willing to float to other hospital campuses as neededNo IV team support; strong independent IV skills are necessaryThis role involves frequent bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter placement, and epidural managementCare is provided alongside a designated charge nurse, 24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support, and in-house intensivist coverage during daysNurses must maintain natural hair color and have no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testingNavy scrub uniforms are requiredOrientation includes a 12-hour SIMs Lab and 2 days of unit-specific trainingInitial pass / fail exams include sterile technique and critical clinical skills; failure after two attempts results in a six-month ineligibility for further assignments in the associated health systemReturning staff must not have worked for any facility in the health system (including PRN) within the past year, except those employed PRN by outside agenciesRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years recent ICU nursing experience, CVICU experience preferredCurrent certifications : BLS and ACLS required; CCRN preferredLevel I trauma experience requiredAbility to pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam prior to offer; two attempts allowedMust pass a SIMs Lab skills assessment on day one for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changesTwo professional references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 yearsMust provide a valid driver's license for address verification (50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility)Benefits
