Adult Education Services Director
This is a .75 FTE position or (30 hours per week) 12-month appointment with a full benefit package. Trinidad State College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to fill the Adult Education Services Director position. The position will serve both the Trinidad and Alamosa campuses. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring Trinidad State College's Adult Education Program Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED classes and family literacy program. The Director is responsible for thinking strategically about the needs of the community related to adult education and devising and executing plans to meet those needs. The ABE Coordinator will monitor instructors and support curriculum that is appropriate for adult learners. The Director will assume responsibility for the function of an adult education day school site and evening program.
Examples of Duties
- Coordinates and supervises the operation of Adult Education site as assigned (day / evening).
- Coordinates and supervises the work of program instructors.
- Coordinates and supervises all areas of the instructional program; including interpretation of test data, improvement of instruction and the development of curriculum and programs; assessment of programs and instruction.
- Coordinates and supervises in arranging and monitoring facilities.
- Coordinates and supervises federal and state funding sources and manages the preparation and submission of funding proposals to secure available resources.
- Coordinates and supervises demonstrations on the methods and techniques for effective instruction.
- Coordinates all textbook, media and equipment requests; supervises planning and training for staff; recruits' personnel as applicable; and plans staff professional development activities.
- Maintains accurate student records; establish, track and report on benchmarking data; complete paperwork including grant writing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor's or master's degree in education or a related field. Experience teaching adult students is preferred. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Must possess excellent organizational, planning, and human relation skills.Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adult learners, specialists, program managers, school administration, and business / community partner agencies.Individual must possess knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment appropriate for instructing adult learners in obtaining a GED.Must demonstrate a commitment and ability to serve a diverse community, including low-income families and English language learners.Self-motivated and able to use technology to communicate and teach basic skills to the adult learner.Supervision of ABE / GED instructors and office staff.Supplemental Information
