Overview
Lead Plumbing Engineer opportunity in Tampa, FL, Orlando, FL, or Sunrise, FL. This role participates in the full project cycle with a focus on complex sector work such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, labs, and industrial manufacturing projects from design through final construction close-out.

Your Impact
- Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
- Apply high-level plumbing engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
- Perform professional plumbing engineering work, research and inspect site conditions, equipment, resources, and usage; install plumbing, fire protection and suppression, and fluid flow systems compliant with applicable rules, standards, and permits.
- Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, cost estimates, construction safety and phasing plans, and updated infrastructure layout plans coordinating with owners, architects, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
- Involve in management of plumbing design and construction for building and infrastructure projects from inception to completion, including rehabilitation, new builds, operating specifications, materials, and safety plans.
- Incorporate advanced technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, and design requirements to ensure proper installation and operation of systems; implement future-ready plumbing engineering design standards.
- Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams to execute project work, including budgets, hours and expenses, task completion, quantities, permit applications, schematics, construction, and regulatory documentation.
- Review and approve installation design plans for data integrity and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, calculations, drawings, spreadsheets) for interpretation or presentation of complex data and analyses.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to address engineering, design, and construction issues or opportunities.
- Analyze site investigation data and contribute to action plans for risk management in equipment and system operations and mitigation activities.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally.
- Collaborate with professionals, engineers, architects, and authorities on funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposals and business development opportunities.
- Remain current in latest plumbing engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and conduct, complying with WSP's Code of Conduct and policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior plumbing and mechanical design experience.Proficiency with high-rise plumbing and fire protection design from concept to substantial completion.Proficiency with plumbing and mechanical engineering principles, practices, processes, and application to project work.Extensive knowledge of building and infrastructure design.Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; involvement in rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.Knowledge of relevant plumbing and mechanical engineering laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.Ability to perform technical computations, interpret plans and specifications, and compare to regulations.Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations of facilities, applying applicable regulations and policies.Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.Self-leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and provide guidance to junior team members with QA / QC adherence.Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, load calculations, design software (AutoCAD, Revit), and related tools.Strong problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to data and calculations and arrive at effective solutions.Experience coordinating and directing subcontractors to safely and efficiently complete tasks.Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek and occasional travel as required.Preferred Qualifications
