The Connecticut State Community College is creating a pool of candidates for part-time Library and IT Support Assistant positions, with opportunities for up to 17 hours per week.

This role is open for continuous recruitment and will be filled based on specific departmental needs. You will be contacted only if there is a current requirement at the campus you selected on your application, and if you meet the necessary qualifications and experience. Your application will remain active for one year.

Location :

Multiple Campuses - This position is not remote. While there may not be openings at all campuses currently, applications are welcome for all campuses within the Connecticut State Community College system.

Position Summary : The Library & IT Support Assistant will play a vital role in supporting students, faculty, and staff in the open lab, classrooms, and library. This is a student-facing position focusing on providing first-level technical support and ensuring the effective use of computer equipment and study spaces. Candidates should exhibit a high level of courtesy, cooperation, and a genuine interest in assisting others.

Key Responsibilities : Under the guidance of the Director of Library Services or IT, the incumbent will be responsible for :

  • Opening and closing the computer lab or library.
  • Cleaning and restocking printing supplies.
  • Answering phone and virtual chat inquiries; providing support and referring complex issues as needed.
  • Troubleshooting basic printer issues and managing paper jams.
  • Transporting laptop carts and technology equipment.
  • Circulating library materials.
  • Offering basic tech support to students regarding library resources.
  • This job may include other qualifications and skills as required.

    Minimum Qualifications : An Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience that demonstrates the required competencies for this role.

    Successful candidates must possess :

  • Experience in troubleshooting basic technical queries from diverse users.
  • Familiarity with resolving printer problems and managing equipment.
  • Knowledge of library search tools and resources.
  • Effective communication skills and strong IT literacy are essential, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

    Preferred Qualifications : At least two years of related experience and direct service experience in a library environment is preferred.

    Salary : $34.06 per hour.
