We're Hiring : Associate Engineer!
Position Overview :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Associate Engineer to support interconnection processes and related engineering operations. This hybrid role requires both mechanical and electrical engineering competencies and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to renewable energy integration, customer project screenings, and regulatory coordination within an electric utility environment.

Key Responsibilities :
- Process residential and commercial Distribution Interconnection applications (0–10 MW), including solar and battery storage systems
- Conduct technical screenings per the Small Generator Interconnection Procedure (SGIP)
- Respond to high-volume inquiries regarding status updates, portal issues, and application deficiencies
- Lead monthly metric reporting for systems under and over 50kW, including reports for NYS DPS Inventory
- Coordinate and manage Net Meter violations and contractor schedules
- Manage field meetings and conduct on-site witness testing for interconnection projects
- Serve as lead contact for SGIP inquiries and application-related communications
- Support operational administration of Operating Instructions with Distributed Energy Resources
- Provide oversight of parallel resources connected to the LIPA Distribution System
- Participate in monthly technical and policy forums with the NYS Department of Public Service (DPS)
- Track all project accounting and financial components in SAP, in collaboration with Cost Analysts and Engineers
- Generate project cost forecasts, analyze contractor invoices and change orders, and maintain monthly reports using Excel or Access
- Attend internal meetings and provide input, documentation, and follow-up notes as required
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering preferred)1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in electric utility or power engineeringStrong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detailExcellent organizational skills and the ability to manage 15–20 projects concurrentlyProficiency in Microsoft Excel and data managementStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across internal teams and external stakeholders (developers, solar companies)Leadership capabilities and customer-service orientationPreferred Qualifications :
Experience in electric utility transmission or distribution engineeringUnderstanding of the SGIP tariff and related interconnection policiesFamiliarity with renewable and non-renewable Distributed Energy Resource interconnections
