As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care and making a difference in the lives of our patients every day.\n\nUnder the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individualized patient care on a nursing unit or department according to established policies and procedures. You will supervise non-RN personnel, and when assuming the charge nurse role, you will delegate and oversee unit activities. Flexibility is key, as you may be required to work on various nursing units based on staff and patient needs.\n\nResponsibilities\n
- Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.\n
- Develop, communicate, and document personalized care plans, involving patients and their families, to achieve optimal outcomes.\n
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and coordinate care plans effectively.\n
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and modify them based on patients' responses and readiness for discharge.\n
- Identify educational needs for patients and families; provide tailored educational opportunities and document the results.\n
- Act as a preceptor for new staff members, enhancing their competency and integration.\n
- Take on the responsibilities of a charge nurse when needed.\n
- Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and professional development.\n
- Perform various specialized duties to ensure the smooth operation of the department / unit.\n
- Show competency in caring for neuro patients, including assessments and intervention skills.\n
- Demonstrate expertise in airway management and tracheostomy care.\n
- Assist physicians during special neuro procedures with proficiency.\n
- Understand and implement the 'Tia' teaching program.\n
- Perform suctioning tasks according to established policies.\n
- Cater to patients in halo braces with appropriate skills and understanding.\n
- Manage nursing responsibilities for patients on ventilators with knowledge and accuracy.\n\nQualifications\n\nEducation : Graduate from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software, including electronic patient records, and ability to conduct internet research for patient care.\n\nLicensure : Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse License.\n\nSpecial Skills : BLS certification required.\n\nYNHHS Requisition ID : 162485
