Develops and manages Visit Orlandos corporate communications efforts to position and communicate the programs, results and value of Visit Orlando, as well as Orlandos tourism industry, to various stakeholders. Working closely with the Vice President of Communications as well as the Executive Management Team, and providing direct supervision to the communication representative, the manager sets objectives, crafts messaging, and collaborates with multiple departments to create B2B content to inform and engage with community leaders, government officials, member businesses, board members, the tourism industry and other stakeholders.

Location

We operate on a hybrid work model, which requires employees to be in the Orlando office at least twice a week.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Develops strategy and tactical plans to proactively communicate the value, results and programs of Visit Orlando, as well as Orlandos tourism industry, to various community stakeholders.
  • Leads organizational storytelling through digital, written and visual collateral; manages planning and execution of executive communications.
  • Advances the visibility of Visit Orlando and the organizations role in Orlandos tourism industry through ownership of proactive communication channels to increasingly broader audiences.
  • Develops talking points, video scripts and briefs for spokespeople or presenters.
  • Ensures creative, consistent, effective and accurate communications across all delivery platforms. Creates, and / or manages others in the development of, content that includes :

Corporate and executive social media presence including LinkedIn

  • Weekly e-newsletter
  • Corporate blog
  • Corporate website
  • Annual business plans
  • Quarterly organizational reports
  • Executive presentations (PowerPoint)
  • Visit Orlando signature luncheon presentations
  • Corporate videos
  • Bylined columns and opinion pieces
  • Manage approval process for content, images, videos and other items for use in corporate communications.
  • Analyzes and reports key performance indicators against organizational goals, department performance and key analytics.
  • Collaborate across departments such as public relations, marketing and membership, to provide communications support and counsel as needed
  • Monitor and analyze social media analytics and newsletter metrics to track overall performance and department milestones. Identifies areas of opportunity and makes recommendations for adjustments based on performance.
  • Performs other accountabilities and projects as assigned.

  • Qualification Requirements

    Education and / or Experience :

  • Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in a fast-paced, consumer writing or design environment, juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Extensive writing experience with excellent knowledge of grammar, AP Style and ability to present a compelling idea or concept in a quick snapshot.
  • Experience developing content for both online (including newsletters and LinkedIn) and offline communication channels.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills among a broad range of community and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven project management experience. Ability to prioritize, direct and execute multiple simultaneous projects, for self and department overall, with short turnaround time and competing demands.
  • Experience supervising and collaborating with marketing and creative teams, including photo, video, graphic design and print writers.
  • Technical Skills :

  • Strong Internet and computer skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of writing for digital and social media.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, but also including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Language Skills :

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to synthesize a wide variety of information into clear, concise content.
  • Business writing.
  • Editing and proofing.
  • High attention to detail.
  • The environment for this job is typical for an office and does not result in exposure to conditions outside of the normal office environment.
