Position Summary :

The Mental Health Worker provides care to patients in a manger that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment. Assists patients with activities; attends to the patient behavioral problems and provides assistance in crisis intervention, as needed. A Mental Health Worker should be compassionate and very patient. Must be even-tempered, can solve crisis and work as a team member.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Facilitate groups and activities as scheduled
• Provides crisis intervention / assistance as needed
• Completes documentation requirements
• Observe and communicate any changes of condition or behavior to the appropriate charge nurse and nursing supervisor
• Provide 1 : 1 counseling sessions with residents as behavioral needs require
• Assists with monitoring floor / hallways, and 1 : 1 monitoring as needed
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications :

• At least one year of previous work with mental health experience is desired
• High school diploma or GED - Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred
