Senior Trending News Reporter, Chron

Chron is seeking a senior trending news writer with sharp reporting skills, digital acumen, and familiarity working within a fast-paced newsroom. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Houston, great news judgment and an ability to turn out multiple high-quality stories per day. The trending reporter will keep an eye on local and regional news and be able to pitch and write time-sensitive, zeitgeisty stories on topics that connect with Chron readers. The reporter will be expected to operate independently while maintaining a collaborative working relationship with the news editor and the rest of the staff to ideate and execute stories.

Your duties on the team :

• Pitch and report 14-18 high-quality trending stories each week
• Work with editors to test and develop microbeats that expand Chron’s coverage of Houston and deepen readers’ understanding of their city
• Write accurate and engaging news articles that reflect sound reporting and have voice and compelling headlines
