Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking a UI Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will influence national strategies and policies by guiding decisions on integrating next-generation technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), satellite navigation, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Whether you\'re supporting safety validation efforts or leading teams on major FAA programs, your work will directly impact the millions of passengers and aviation professionals who rely on safe, efficient airspace operations every day.

In this position, you will :

  • Collaborate with leading experts in government, academia, and industry to address some of the most complex challenges in modern aviation.
  • Bridge research and operational application, ensuring innovative solutions are practical, safe, and ready for deployment across the aviation ecosystem.
  • Conduct and guide research and development on technologies supporting the NAS, airport infrastructure, and air traffic management.
  • Lead or contribute to design, testing, and innovation initiatives for next-generation aviation systems.

    Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • 2-5 years of experience working as a software engineer focused on user interfaces
  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
  • Experience working with front-end technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript and CSS, along with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, JQuery, etc.
  • Experience working with back-end technologies such as Java and Python, especially for the development of APIs, web services, and web applications
  • Prior experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Experience with professional software development practices, such as source code management, code reviews, and testing
  • A demonstrated ability to pick up new programming languages and technologies quickly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of aviation systems, UAS integration, AI applications, or satellite navigation systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA research environments or facilities like the William J. Hughes Technical Center.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, national airspace policies, or international aviation standards (e.g., ICAO).
  • Experience working with UX designers and other software engineers in a team setting
  • Experience with front-end testing tools, such as Cypress, Jest, and Selenium
  • Experience with AWS development, including EC2, API Gateway, etc.
  • Prior experience working with DevSecOps processes and tools
  • Prior experience providing technical leadership to a team or mentoring to junior personnel
