Responsibilities Work in the Float Pool with assignments to Med / Surg, Telemetry, and Stepdown units in an acute care hospital setting Care for a mix of post-surgical, ortho, cardiac, dialysis, palliative, hospice, end of life, and patients with various medical needs, including possible COVID assignments Med / Surg ratio is 1 : 6-7; Stepdown / Telemetry ratio is 1 : 4-5; all private rooms Expected to float between Med / Surg and Stepdown / Telemetry units as needed Telemetry patients are monitored remotely in Med / Surg, and RNs in Stepdown must read and interpret strips Use of Epic EMR system (Cerner currently in use but transitioning to Epic) 12-hour day shifts with weekend scheduling required Navy blue scrubs required Provide patient care for a diverse adult population including stepdown and telemetry patients May float to ICU as helping hands if needed Floor-specific orientation : 1 shift in Med / Surg, 2 shifts in Stepdown / Telemetry with a preceptor Work within a supportive team including resource nurses, CNAs, and an in-house hospitalist 24 / 7 Must participate in the permanent staff holiday rotation and work every other weekend and scheduled Fridays No previous employment within WVU Medicine within the last 2 years allowed; total assignments within WVU may not exceed one year before a 2-year break is required Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius and local travelers are not accepted Pass / fail EKG testing may be required for Stepdown assignments First time travelers are welcome Requirements Active PA or Compact RN license Minimum of 2 years of RN experience Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required for Stepdown / Telemetry Experience with cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation equipment (Bipap, Cpap, High Flow Oxygen) Comfortable caring for both 'clean' and 'dirty' patients, including COVID positive assignments Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry and participate in EKG testing if required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623766.
