About the Role

We are seeking a transactional lawyer to join our team as maternity cover for a VP-level attorney.

This is currently a hybrid position based in Hollywood, with the expectation of transitioning to on-site full time in January 2026.

We are open to hiring at the Senior Counsel or Counsel level, depending on the applicant's experience.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate agreements for domestic and international television development and production (Includes services agreements for producers, writers, directors, and actors, rights acquisitions, co-production and financing agreements, license agreements, and more.)
  • Serve as show attorney for select pilots and series, managing day-to-day production legal matters.
  • Advise on all aspects of TV development, production, and post-production, including :
  • Contractual and clearance issues (copyright, trademark, defamation, privacy)
  • Publicity, promotional, and intellectual property matters
  • Chain-of-title and derivative rights assessments
  • Provide transaction support for acquisitions, joint ventures, and equity investments.
  • Contribute to improving legal processes and departmental knowledge management.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and California State Bar admission (registered in-house counsel also considered)
  • 6+ years of experience at a studio, network, or entertainment company (scripted TV preferred)
  • Strong background in guild issues and entertainment law
  • Knowledge of defamation, privacy, trademark, and copyright law
  • Exceptional drafting, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment, collaboration skills, and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to partner effectively with producers, business affairs, casting, production, labor, and publicity tea

    • Applicants with 4+ years of relevant experience may be considered at the Counsel level.

    • Additional Details

    The base range for this contract position is $130 - 140 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered
