HS Inspector – Manufacturing

Role Overview

The EHS Inspector plays a key role in ensuring compliance with safety standards and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience and mentorship opportunities for individuals passionate about Environmental, Health & Safety careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of manufacturing areas and equipment, including rigging, electrical systems, fall protection gear, and emergency equipment.
  • Document findings, track corrective actions, and ensure timely follow-up on identified issues.
  • Report unsafe conditions or hazards to the EHS Coordinator or Safety Manager.
  • Support compliance efforts with OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001, and other applicable standards.
  • Assist with incident investigations by gathering relevant information and documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and calibration logs for safety equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to strengthen workplace safety and operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or construction setting (or equivalent field experience).
  • Familiarity with OSHA and NFPA standards preferred (training provided).
  • OSHA 30-hour certification in manufacturing or construction (required).
  • First Aid and CPR / AED certification preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physically capable of walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs as part of inspection duties.

  • Conduct walk-through inspections of production areas, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Engage with shop floor teams to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Document observations and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and site audits.
  • Collaborate with EHS leadership to improve overall safety performance.
