Summary
Operate and maintain a 1 million gallon per day capacity water treatment plant that utilizes cold lime softeners, dual-media filters, reverse osmosis units and mixed bed demineralizers in order to provide boiler water for the combined cycle power plant and various auxiliary equipment. This position also includes oversight of the Boiler Water Chemistry Program to help extend boiler and turbine life.
Duties & Responsibilities
Includes, but are not limited to the following :
- Communicates technical information on the condition of plant chemical-related processes / equipment to management and other technical personnel
- Supports chemical-related troubleshooting activities on power plant systems and equipment
- Ensures Company resources are used in a cost-effective manner
- Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance
- Operates lab equipment and performs chemical analysis and calculations
- Participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation in area of responsibility
- Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them
- Collects process and environmental samples to support plant production and regulatory compliance
- Collects data and monitors performance of plant chemical treatment systems
- Supports chemical cleaning activities if required
- Performs relief of chemical personnel at various locations if required
- Operate and check all pumps, chemical stations, reservoirs, water towers, filters, and electrical instrumentation.
- Inspect equipment and monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Operates and adjust controls on equipment and clarify water, process to dispose of sludge.
- Will assign, perform, assist, repair and maintain plant equipment as well as keeping all structures and grounds neat and clean.
- Handling chemicals, chlorine, phosphate, polymer, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, anodamine, corrosion inhibitors, and other chemicals.
- Maintain and ensure all daily logs.
- Perform process control lab test such Total and free chlorine, turbidity, pH, alkalinity, hardness, phosphate, silica.
- Ability to manage water treatment improvement projects.
- Will help develop annual budgets for chemicals and projects for water treating area.

High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of 8 college hours in Chemistry and 2 years of power plant experience or 4 years of industrial chemical experience.Minimum Class D Wastewater License or willingness to obtain required license.Must have a valid driver's license.Preferred Requirements
