Position
The Data Engineer I position has a location and salary that is negotiable depending upon experience. Supports the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and data infrastructure to ensure reliable data access and analytics across the Association. Contributes to workflow automation, collects, cleans, and integrates data from multiple sources while building and supporting automation platforms.
Minimum Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, related field or equivalent practical experience. Possesses a strong proficiency in SQL and a solid understanding of relational database concepts, enabling effective data querying and management. Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Python, PowerShell (PS), or Java is essential for scripting and automation tasks. Exposure to cloud data platforms, including Azure or AWS, is preferred, as is a working knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline development. Experience or familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing concepts, or business intelligence (BI) tools is preferred.

The ideal candidate has a solid technical foundation, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to contribute beyond traditional data engineering duties by supporting both data-driven and process automation initiatives. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and develop effective solutions. Ability to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Proactive in the application of new tools and technologies. Strong interpersonal and excellent oral and written communications skills are required.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that leverage both data engineering and workflow automation.
Working Relationships
Frequent interaction with Association departmental staff and management. Occasional interaction with Association senior management, CEO, and / or board of directors. Occasional interaction with Farm Credit Bank of Texas staff.
