Responsibilities Position is in the Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit of a hospital setting 54-bed unit with primarily neurological patients, including stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, and head injury, with some medical overflow Night shifts with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts (1900-0700) including every other weekend and holiday rotation RN to patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 on nights RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT and must have heparin gtt experience Phillips telemetry monitors are used but RNs are not required to interpret strips High flow nasal cannula may be used for stable COVID patients, though COVID cases are rare Floating required within the general unit rotation; if floated outside the unit, only skills-competent duties assigned alongside a trained nurse EPIC EMR is used in the unit Orientation consists of 2 days, including time with a unit educator and a preceptor caring for patients Charge nurse and house supervisor present 24 / 7; charge nurse typically not assigned patient load unless needed Support from nurse aides and patient care techs with dedicated ratios per shift No call or standby requirements No specific scrub color required; tattoos must be covered and only ear piercings are allowed while on duty No COVID vaccination requirement for employment Local candidates accepted, with a local rate adjustment for those with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility Requirements Active IL RN license in hand at time of consideration Minimum of 1 year of RN experience Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit Previous travel RN experience required (first time travelers not accepted) Level 1 trauma experience required Current certifications : BLS (AHA) and NIHSS Experience in titrating heparin drips required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623107.
