Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)\n\nLocation\n\nOhio\n\nAssignment Duration\n\nThis is a 13-week contract position.\n\nSchedule / Shift\n\nStraight Days : 7 a.m. - 7 : 30 p.m. Every Other Weekend and Holiday\n\nJob Description\n\nThe Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) is responsible for providing exceptional, patient-centered care to expectant mothers and their newborns. The L&D RN supports patients through all stages of labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and successful childbirth experiences.\n\nResponsibilities\n
- Perform comprehensive assessments of maternal and fetal health during labor, delivery, and recovery.\n
- Monitor vital signs, fetal heart rates, contractions, and other indicators of labor progress.\n
- Administer medications, including epidurals and induction agents, as prescribed.\n
- Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management options, and postpartum care.\n
- Assist patients during all stages of labor, including natural births, assisted deliveries, and cesarean sections.\n
- Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families during labor and delivery.\n
- Operate and monitor medical equipment, such as fetal monitors and IV pumps.\n
- Anticipate and respond quickly to complications, such as preterm labor, fetal distress, or hemorrhage.\n
- Provide immediate postpartum care to mothers, including monitoring for complications such as bleeding or infection.\n
- Support and educate patients in breastfeeding and newborn care.\n
- Perform initial newborn assessments, including Apgar scoring, weight, and vital signs.\n
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians to coordinate care.\n
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in electronic medical systems.\n
- Participate in emergency interventions, such as neonatal resuscitation or emergency cesarean deliveries.\n\nRequired Experience / Certifications / Licensure\n
- Current RN license in the state of Ohio.\n
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.\n
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred.\n
