Controls Engineer Lead

Onsite : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Arlington, TX on a full-time basis.

The Role

In this role your work will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards meeting required safety guidelines. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to troubleshoot and follow issues to resolve. Manage a team responsible for PLC, HMI, Robotics test control systems.

You will be responsible to lead the Controls Engineering team for equipment related to the manufacturing process. Your responsibility will involve training team members and assigning work to the team as necessary to manage deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Manage team of Control Engineers responsible for Body shop department.
• Provide technical / engineering support to assist production and maintenance with troubleshooting equipment / process failures and with identifying effective follow-up countermeasures
• Trains, develops, selects, and evaluates Control Engineering employees.
• Assists in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems.
• Manage controls-related electrical projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment.
• Participate in functional area plant meetings to represent Manufacturing Engineering and assist in improving the plant's performance.
• Provide daily support of production operations with focus on personnel and equipment safety, process quality and uptime with a focus on automation and controls
• Coordinate with departmental tech support engineers and HQ Vehicle Systems engineers on new model process and equipment planning, including model changes, throughput improvements, sourcing, etc.
• Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, health / safety.
• Maintain good working relationships with peers, represented & non-represented employees.
• Provide input into the establishment of Manufacturing Engineering plant budget, NPP funding forecasts, and appropriation request estimates.
• Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertise. Update management on current status and emerging trends of areas of expertise as relating to equipment standards, legislative requirements, GM Requirements, etc.
• Identify technical training and knowledge transfer opportunities with other Controls Engineers, Interns, and Maintenance Associates
