About The Role
The Lead Meter Technician reports to the Meter Services Supervisor at Bermex. This position plays a key role in assisting the supervision of Meter Install Technicians and ensuring all meter installations meet quality and safety standards, and acts as a liaison between the Meter Services Supervisor and Meter Installers. This position requires a high degree of communication and leadership skills, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.
What You'll Do
Assist in Daily Operations :
- Assist the supervisor in monitoring daily production, quality, and field related issues
- Assist with water line breaks
- Assist with repairs, as needed
- Perform audits on work completed by Meter Installers to ensure quality and safety standards are being met
- Participate in weekly safety meetings
- Act as a liaison between the Supervisor and Meter Installers to help facilitate team communication
- Schedule and monitor performance tasks, installs meters and performs validations
Performs Meter Installations :
Exchange the following electric meter types : 1s, 2s, 2s 320, 12s, 25s, 9s,16sFollow all procedures outlined in the Field Services Manual to safely exchange electric meters, gas modules, or water meters on assigned routes. Each route is different and production expectations are given by the supervisorIdentify hazards or unsafe conditions at meter sites and reports accordinglyUse handheld devices to collect project specific data points, including but not limited to, site inspection, address verification, old meter number, old meter reading, quality picture of old meter, quality picture of socket, thermal image and temperature scan of socket, new meter number, new meter module number, quality picture of new meter, socket GPS transformer number, transformer GPS, and comments as neededUse a paper copy called a route sheet to record all information on a paper for a backup if it is ever neededEnsure assigned routes are loaded on handhelds and all tools needed for jobs are located and kept in work vehiclesUnderstand and follows all job specific proceduresEnsure the timely completion of all routes assignedReturn all keys, handhelds, and paperwork as requiredReturn all old meter inventory to appropriate areas at the end of each working dayEnter all meter inventory prior to leaving the field in accordance with the inventory needed for the specific route being workedProvides Customer Communication & Ensures Safety :
Communicate with customers daily and follows all outlined customer service policiesProvide general information about meter services to customers, when applicableUse telephones, tablets, and / or computers to communicateWear and ensure others wear PPE during meter exchanges and advocates the importance of PPE during normal operationsEnsure everyone follows all procedures outlined in the Field Services Manual to safely exchange electric meters, gas modules, or water meters on assigned routes; each route is different and production expectations are given by the supervisorDrive a company vehicle appropriately marked for the specific project. Field Technicians are responsible for completing a safety walk around prior to leaving for their route. Field Technicians must also complete a vehicle inspection (as required) and follow all vehicle policies and rules of the roadOther duties as assigned.

Must Haves
Education : None. Must be 18 years of age or olderExperience : At least 1 year of experience in the installation of water, gas, and / or electric meters or 1 year of experience in underground plumbing related to water services. Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training. Must possess a valid driver's licenseNice to Have
Education : High School Diploma or GEDExperience : 3 or more years of experience in the installation of water, gas, and / or electric meters and / or underground plumbing related to water services; 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and / or 6 or more months workingYour Skills
Ability to multi-task, and work independently and as a teamExceptional flexibility in daily routines and route schedulingAdequate time management skills to finish daily routes in a timely manner, figuring out an efficient way to finish the job for that dayExcellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customersAbility to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional mannerExcellent attention to detail for problem solving and findingAbility to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordinglyExcellent knowledge of the geography and street locations in the communityOther Considerations
This role would not be a good fit if you : Do not enjoy working independently; Do not enjoy working in outdoor conditions; Do not enjoy walking long distances; Are not able to walk and stand extensively. Medium work requires exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force routinely, and up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects. Will need to walk up to 20 miles per day in all kinds of weather including rain, sleet, hail, and snow. Must be able to work in all temperatures with daily ranges of -10 up to 120 degrees FahrenheitAre not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routineDo not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish a days work in a timely mannerDrug / Alcohol Testing
