Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with at least 2 years of Med / Surg Tele experience and an active AZ or compact state license for a night shift position.
Responsibilities
Work in a 48-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit focusing on surgical, neuro, and general medical patientsCommon patient diagnoses include COVID, respiratory illnesses, GI, diabetes, tele, TIA, CVA, and post-surgical cases including orthopedic and spinal proceduresPatient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 5RN must interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shiftRespiratory equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow oxygen, and other breathing treatments12-hour night shifts (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM) with a 30-minute unpaid lunchEvery other weekend required; holidays required as assigned (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving)Self-scheduling is utilized but finalized by the managerRNs are first to float and may float to East Campus or PCU if qualifiedUses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience recommended due to limited orientationRN is responsible for interpreting and documenting telemetry strips each shiftSupport staff includes charge nurse (non-assigned) and nurse aides (ratio 1 : 10-15)Unit-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shiftDress code is navy blue scrubsNo on-call requirementsHoliday coverage is required as part of the standard scheduleNot eligible if employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience requiredExperience with reading basic telemetry strips and care of general, orthopedic, CVA, and TIA patients requiredMust provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license required for considerationMust pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique test (Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes) prior to or during orientationBenefits
