Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring Epic, two years of acute care experience, and telemetry competency.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work on a Med / Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
  • Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM
  • Every other weekend (Friday-Sunday) work required
  • Care for patients undergoing specialized procedures such as free flap monitoring for breast reconstruction and urinary diversion post-operative care
  • Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
  • Epic EMR is used and recent experience is required
  • Responsibilities include supporting and educating patients undergoing specialized surgical procedures and providing education for post-surgical self-care
  • Orientation is typically about one week and follows a department-specific schedule
  • Testing is required and candidates have up to two attempts to pass the telemetry exam before further steps are needed
  • Holiday coverage may be required depending on unit policy
  • Parking permit required for onsite parking; alternative options available such as bus or park & ride

  • Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • A minimum of two years of acute care RN experience within the past three years
  • Basic arrhythmia competency required
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, with strict criteria for lethal rhythm identification and no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions
  • Recent Epic experience preferred within the last 12 months
  • Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility location
  • Local candidates not accepted
  • First-time travelers may be considered for some units
