Registered Nurse – Pre / Post GOR Department UPMC Mercy
UPMC Mercy is hiring a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pre / Post department supporting the General Operating Room (GOR). This is a daylight-only position with no on-call responsibilities and minimal weekend or holiday shifts—perfect for those seeking work-life balance in a dynamic surgical support environment.
We’re looking for candidates with :
Minimum 4 years of nursing experience
ICU experience strongly preferred
Candidates who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
Schedule : Monday–Friday, with shifts starting as early as 5 : 00 AM and ending by 8 : 30 PM.

Minimum of 2 years nursing experience required
BSN preferred; a Master’s in a related field may substitute for certification
Must achieve and maintain a Solid / Strong / Good or higher rating on annual Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluations
Demonstrated knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and ability to assess and respond to age-specific patient needs

Proven capacity to work effectively in complex environments with changing priorities and specialized equipment
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning
Mobility and visual / manual dexterity required
Professional Development
Annual completion of a professional contribution aligned with department, hospital, or system goals, approved by Unit Director
OR obtain a UPMC-approved nursing certification within 1 year of hire / transfer and maintain it
Certification not required if holding a Master’s in Nursing or DNP
Licensure and Certifications
Current RN licensure in the state of employment or a compact state under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC)
CPR certification per AHA standards required within 30 days of hire
ACLS and PALS certifications required within 1 year of hire / transfer
UPMC-approved nursing certification preferred
Act 34 clearance required
Additional Notes
Employees with out-of-state NLC licenses who change residency to the facility’s state must obtain local licensure within 60 days
