Restaurant Information :

Carmel transports the energy, culture, and flavor of the renowned outdoor marketplace “Shuk HaCarmel” to Melrose Avenue, in the heart of LA’s food scene. Using some of the oldest techniques in the world— a wood-burning oven, an open flame grill— chef Asaf Maoz interprets ancient Levantine cooking traditions through a modern lens.  Carmel is evolving from a successful launch into a lasting presence on Melrose. We're looking for an Expo who can assist in crafting exceptional experiences, and bring great energy to each and every guest.

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and personable Expo to join our team. As an Expo at Carmel, you are more than a food runner—you are a storyteller and an integral part of our guest experience. You’ll guide guests through our culinary journey by ensuring dishes are delivered with precision, care, and a sense of hospitality that reflects our elevated, high-energy atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities :

Serve as the connection between the kitchen and the dining room, ensuring seamless communication and workflow.

Deliver food to guests promptly and accurately while maintaining the integrity and presentation of each dish.

Support the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to uphold service standards and ensure consistency.

Anticipate guest and team needs, assisting proactively to maintain a smooth dining experience.

Demonstrate extensive menu knowledge, offering guidance to team members on ingredients, modifications, and presentation standards.

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient expo line at all times.

Provide warm, attentive, and informed service to every guest, reflecting Carmel’s cultural and culinary ethos.

Accurately deliver food and beverage orders via print and digital POS tickets.

Offering insight into ingredients, cooking methods, and flavor profiles.

Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.

Maintain knowledge of daily specials, beverage offerings, and any 86’d items.

Ensure tables are clean, organized, and properly reset for incoming guest.

Handle guest concerns with professionalism and a sense of urgency.

Uphold Carmel’s hospitality standards and contribute to a positive team culture.

Requirements :

2+ years of experience as an Expo in fine dining environment.

  • Deep appreciation for global cuisines; knowledge of Mediterranean flavors a plus.

Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary ingredients and food preparations.

Excellent customer service skills with a warm, professional demeanor.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work efficiently and multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.

Food safety handler certification or equivalent plus responsible alcohol service preferred.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
