Position Title : Early Intervention Developmental Interventionist Assistant Department : Service Coordination Reports To : Community Relations Director FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Job Classification : Full-Time Eligible Prepared By : Brittany Baylor, Community Relations Director Date : October 2, 2025 Approved By : Johnnie DeLeon, Chief Executive Officer Date : October 13, 2025 SUMMARY : The Early Intervention Developmental Interventionist Assistant (DIA) supports developmental services for infants and toddlers (birth to three) as part of Colorado's Early Intervention (EI) / Part C system. Working under the supervision of a qualified Developmental Interventionist, the DIA provides play-based intervention, assists with assessments, and helps families implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). Services are delivered in natural environments-homes, childcare, and community settings-while ensuring compliance with EI Colorado standards, timelines, and procedural safeguards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Other duties may be assigned.Provide evidence-based developmental support to children and families in natural environments (homes, child care, community settings), embedding intervention within routine activities.Assist infants and toddlers in achieving or compensating for developmental milestones through play-based strategies, environmental adaptations, and assistive technology.Coach caregivers / parents / guardians to implement developmental strategies, promoting family independence from formal services.Partner with families and professionals to develop and implement IFSPs that reflect family priorities and goals.Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including data collection, session notes, and progress data in accordance with EI Colorado and agency policies.Ensure compliance with Colorado's Early Intervention (EI) program standards, including timelines, confidentiality, and procedural safeguards.Lifting and Transferring : Perform safe lifting and transferring techniques; occasionally lift / push / pull up to 50 lbs.Driving : Operate agency vehicles to transport individuals or conduct agency business.Must, with or without reasonable accommodation : The physical and environmental demands of this position require the ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs on a regular basis. The role involves performing computer-based tasks that include repetitive motions, and it requires clear communication in both quiet and noisy environments. Candidates must be able to work under varying levels of stress while meeting time-sensitive deadlines. Adequate vision is essential, including close, distance, and depth perception. While the work is primarily conducted indoors, there may be some responsibilities that take place in community settings. Additionally, the position involves physical movements such as squatting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead. Essential Duties include the Physical Demands listed below. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Facilitate same-age peer interactions and support inclusion in community settings.Ensure families are connected to their community and natural support systems by educating them on available local activities, groups, and opportunities for leadership roles.Serve as a consultant within a transdisciplinary team; collaborate closely with service coordinators, therapists, and other professionals.Respond appropriately to the cultural and linguistic diversity of families, providing inclusive, respectful, and accessible services.Participate in ongoing professional development, EI Colorado training, and DIA competency development.Collaborate with families to identify times and settings within their daily routines where developmental play and learning can be naturally embedded.Support family engagement in community programs and inclusive activities.Participate in team meetings and adhere to all training provided by EI Colorado to maintain program compliance and accreditation.Demonstrate and apply knowledge of local school districts, Child Find Coordinators, preschool special education programs, and the Part C transition process, supporting families in navigating smooth transitions from Early Intervention services to preschool and other educational settings.Support the overall health and well-being of children, including helping families document health-related information and communicate effectively with the medical community to ensure that developmental and medical needs are addressed.Exhibit a strong understanding of early childhood development and the early stages of parent–child relationship building, fostering a secure, nurturing environment.Conduct sensitive, respectful, and individualized observations and assessments that recognize and honor the uniqueness of each child and family.Utilize proactive and preventative strategies to engage and support families who may be at risk, ensuring early access to appropriate resources and interventions.Recruit providers and resources as needed to support families and strengthen connections with community-based programs and supports.Ensure all service providers working with a child receive timely and accurate information or training relevant to that child's specific needs, when appropriate.Complete accurate provider notes and billing documentation by the 5th day of each month to ensure timely submission for reimbursement and compliance.Provide and promote information and events related to Children and Adult Programs to increase community-wide awareness and engagement.Actively participate in Inspiration Field all-staff meetings, agency training sessions, and other internal events to stay informed about current practices, issues, and initiatives that affect coordination of services and supports.Participate in staff training activities and required meetings as outlined in the agency's staff development curriculum.Maintain a flexible work schedule, including availability for services in various environments as needed. Prompt and reliable attendance for assigned shifts is essential. This role may require work during irregular hours, including on-call, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as determined by agency and supervisor needs.Protect and safeguard all agency funds, property, and confidential information.Follow established agency purchasing procedures when making purchases on behalf of the agency.Abide by all agency policies and procedures in the execution of duties and responsibilities.Communicate concerns, needs, or operational problems to the Service Coordinator and / or the Community Relations Director in a timely manner.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff, the CEO, and / or designee to ensure effective and responsive service delivery. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : The Community Relations Director provides supervision of this position. In general, this position requires that the individual work independently approximately 85% of the time. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability necessary for success. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum / Preferred qualifications listed below : Minimum qualifications : Candidates for this position include a high school diploma or GED, along with completion of the state-required early intervention provider training (e.g., EI Provider Training) before the candidate is eligible to bill or fully perform in the role. Candidates should hold a Department of Education birth–8 endorsement or possess equivalent educational coursework in early childhood development, special education, or a related field. Alternatively, individuals who do not yet meet full personnel standards may work under waiver status, provided they are under the supervision of a fully qualified Developmental Interventionist and are actively working toward meeting those standards as defined by EI Colorado. Applicants must demonstrate computer literacy, including proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and electronic documentation systems. A minimum age of 18 is required. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation; out-of-state licenses must be converted to a Colorado driver's license within ten days of hire. Current motor vehicle insurance is also required, as driving is an essential function of the job. All applicants must successfully pass background checks, drug and alcohol screening, reference checks, and motor vehicle record checks. Additionally, candidates must be willing to enroll in and complete any additional EI Colorado-required training and are responsible for maintaining current documentation of credentials, endorsements, and completed trainings in the EI Colorado provider data system (portal), in accordance with state regulations. Preferred qualifications : Candidates will hold a credential or certification that meets one of the EI Colorado qualified personnel categories, such as Early Childhood Educator (birth–8), Early Childhood Special Educator, Pyramid Plus Coach, or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). State licensure or certification appropriate to the qualified personnel category-such as a special education teaching license or early childhood specialist endorsement-is strongly preferred. Graduate-level licensure, including Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Psychologist credentials, is also beneficial if aligned with EI Colorado personnel standards. Candidates should demonstrate expertise across developmental domains-cognitive, motor, speech / language, social-emotional, and medical-particularly in supporting children from birth to age three. The ability to collaborate effectively within a transdisciplinary team is essential. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are highly valued, especially in communities with diverse linguistic needs. Preferred applicants will also bring prior experience working within Early Intervention or Part C systems, and have familiarity with Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) processes, Colorado state regulations, and transition planning. All fully qualified personnel are required to maintain up-to-date documentation of their credentials, endorsements, and completed trainings in the EI Colorado provider data system (portal), as mandated by state rules. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and / or trunk more than the average person, squatting / stooping / kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with individuals and the public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. The employee will occasionally lift and / or push and pull up to 50 pounds. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement. This position demands tolerance for various levels of stress. REASONING ABILITY : Reasoning abilities involve solving practical problems, interpreting instructions in various formats, defining issues, collecting data, and drawing sound conclusions for decision-making. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES : The ability to work collaboratively, navigate system challenges, and meet deadlines is critical. Patience and understanding when engaging with staff, clients, and families are essential. Candidates must build and maintain effective working relationships, communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, work well within a team, and perform duties according to agency policies and procedures. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Specific certificates, licenses, or registrations are not mandatory for the Developmental Interventionist Assistant (DI-A) role; however, completion of required training and proper documentation are essential. Candidates must ensure they meet these requirements and maintain accurate records in the EI Colorado provider portal. All training certifications obtained through required training will be uploaded into the provider portal. An approved waiver, when applicable, will be issued by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) and uploaded into the provider portal. If a new waiver is needed, it will be reassessed by EI Colorado after reviewing the application and all supporting documentation.
