Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package . .
In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college : Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility.
Candidates should be committed to student-centered, outcomes-based education with experience incorporating multiple instructional strategies and the use of technology in teaching and learning. Strong candidates will demonstrate knowledge of evidence based teaching practices and how they can be applied in a college classroom to help students succeed. Teaching assignments are 15 faculty load hours per semester. Full-time faculty are expected to participate on committees in the department and the college. Candidates should have evidence of ongoing commitment to personal and professional development as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. Additionally, excellence in oral, written and interpersonal communication skills is expected.
Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities :
In addition to a faculty member’s primary responsibilities, the exceptional candidate will also demonstrate commitment and experience in one or more of the following areas :
1. Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time faculty; part-time faculty
2. Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities
3. Training and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.)
4. Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programs
5. Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community
6. Recruiting and marketing
7. Devising retention strategies and activities
8. Strengthening relationships and collaborative activities including K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Master’s degree in chemistry or field that is represented in foundational chemistry courses with at least 18 hours of graduate courses in areas related to chemistry
