Job Summary

The Tutor - PT assists students in building academic skills and competency in Math including Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics. The Tutor engages in student success initiatives, such as study skills workshops, professional development training, and promotional events and provides academic support to ensure students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become independent learners.

Responsibilities

Function 1 -

Facilitates one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions which promote independent thinking, productivity, and learning

Function 2 -

Engages in AEC student success initiatives, including but not limited to TIC (tutors in the classroom), TAC (tutors across campus), and / or TOE (tutors online)

Function 3 -

Demonstrates the ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, and staff

Function 4 -

Engages with AEC leadership to develop tutor training activities and / or presentations

Function 5 -

Attends training to improve tutoring practices, including CRLA initiatives

Function 6 -

Collaborates with the GGC community to promote AEC initiatives and ensure student success

Function 7 -

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in related field
• Grade of B (2.75) or better in coursework related to the subject to be tutored
• 1 year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Proposed Salary

$16 ¿ $18 per hour

Salary offer will be dependent on candidate¿s experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Ability to work non-standard hours (including evenings and weekends)

Ability to maintain a weekly schedule of 15-19 hours per week throughout the fall and spring semesters

Ability to build and maintain relationships with various groups of people, meet deadlines, and work under minimal supervision

Ability to lead seminars or workshops on a variety of academic topics for colleagues and students

SKILLS

Skills in interpersonal communications and relationship building
