Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Medical Assistant Per Diem.
Responsibilities include : obtaining patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and preparing the patient for a physical exam; explaining prescribed procedures and treatments to patients; ensuring all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner; administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure; drawing blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and / or in-house processing; performing laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions; responding to all lab messages and call back requests; phlebotomy; performing all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations; ensuring patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure; conducting physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis; preparing exam rooms; sterilizing instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures; maintaining complete and accurate documentation; and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications include an Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
