Natural Resources Department Manager

Responsibilities

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Environmental Prinicipal to join our team. This role ensure that overall goals related to quality and performance are achieved. Responsibilities for any one particular project are limited. Goal is to delegate to senior staff and step in when and where it is most useful. Principals are the problem solvers and the final reviewer for projects. The ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team. Provide mentorship to Associate Principals as assigned.
• Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary
• Market our services. Maintain and further develop the client database
• Oversee project budgets and review change orders and invoices. Assist with collections efforts.
• Training and oversight of subordinate staff members
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Oversee environmental projects. Assist junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff
• Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders
• Oversee the preparation and review of environmental reports from junior staff.
• Perform deliverable reviews in accordance with ECS Principal review policy
• Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions
• Assist senior staff with staffing decisions
• Interact with Sr. Project Managers to ensure that project set up and implementation procedures are being completed.
• Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local wetlands regulations and guidelines and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies.
• Supervise subordinate staff regarding work assignments to ensure properly trained and experienced personnel are assigned. Perform Principal oversight and review of projects in accordance with ECS Principal Policy. Ensure that deliverables are completed, and projects are closed out in accordance with ECS QA / QC policies and guidelines. Assist with client interaction / discussion regarding findings and conclusions of reports.
• Communicate with junior staff to direct field work. Perform site visits as required on the project. May involve several projects being performed simultaneously.
• Initial management and supervision, QA / QC of fieldwork activities. Providing Senior field expertise when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
