Ophthalmic Clinic Receptionist

Monday Thursday 7 : 10 AM -4 : 15 PM, Friday 7 : 10 AM 12 : 00 PM
Job Description :
We are seeking an experienced Receptionist to join our busy ophthalmic clinic. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and has prior experience working in an ophthalmic or medical office.
Key Responsibilities :
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures
- Manage multi-line phone systems, schedule appointments, and respond to patient inquiries
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing documents
- Maintain organized patient records in the electronic medical system
- Coordinate with ophthalmologists, technicians, and staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Handle payment processing and collect co-pays
- Pulling Authorizations as needed
- Update and verify patient demographics
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Perform light administrative tasks (filing, faxing, email correspondence)
Qualifications :
Previous experience working in an ophthalmic clinic or medical office (required)Familiarity with ophthalmology terminology and proceduresStrong customer service and communication skillsProficient in medical software and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of insurance verification and billing proceduresHigh school diploma or equivalentBenefits :

Duties may include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence.Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate staff.Maintain medical records, technical library, or correspondence files.Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff.Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, or medical consultations.Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, or forms, such as intake or insurance forms.Operate office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records.Perform bookkeeping duties, such as credits or collections, preparing and sending financial statements or bills, and keeping financial records.Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.Transcribe recorded messages or practitioners' diagnoses or recommendations into patients' medical records.Compile and record medical charts, reports, or correspondence, using typewriter or personal computer.Schedule tests or procedures for patients, such as lab work or x-rays, based on physician orders.Arrange hospital admissions for patients.
