Overview
Technical Service Manager - Fiber Bonding at Synthomer. The role focuses on providing technical support to customers in North America, driving growth in the Consumer Materials business (non-wovens, textiles). Involves new product development, regulatory support, resolving customer complaints, and supporting plant production as needed. Location : Akron, OH. Up to 50% travel.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a proactive approach to SHE related issues and compliance with Group SHE principles and the Golden Rules in line with the Group's core values
- Participate and execute new product development projects, liaising with internal technical teams
- Serve as technical and applications expert, providing in depth training within the company and to Distributors
- Develop guidelines and formulations for target segments and applications and give customers appropriate guidance for the use of our product range
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to ensure product performance and reliability as well as driving new product development
- Provide direct technical support to customers and handle enquiries for the Fibre-bonding product line (specification, design issues, complaints)
- Maintain contact with existing and prospective customers, independently or with the sales team, to understand needs and progress opportunities to expand product usage
- Ensure customer complaints are handled effectively with Quality, Sales, Application Laboratories and Operations, and communicate outcomes
- Stay current on industry developments and advancements in Fibre-bonding technology
- Develop and implement testing protocols for Fibre-bonding products
- Analyse test results and provide recommendations for improvements or modifications
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to develop product literature and technical data sheets
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry; Master's / PhD or comparable experience preferredMinimum 5 years' experience in Technical service, Sales or R&D; fibre-bonding applications background preferredStrong understanding of the US fibre-bonding marketExcellent internal and external communication skillsStrong ability to build customer relations and take initiativeProject management skills; ability to work in a team with diverse technical backgroundsAbility to work collaboratively with colleagues globallyBasic knowledge of polymer chemistry and reactive compoundingSoftware : MS Office, SAP; additional languages (Spanish and / or German) a plusUp to 50% travel requiredAdditional Information
