Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)The Sams Clinic is an Orthopedic and Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation facility. We are looking for motivated, highly skilled RVT's dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our patients and team.
Join our specialized team and work directly with Board Certified surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation doctor, and our all-star staff. No overnights, weekends or emergency coverage. Full-Time 40 hours, 4 / 10-hr. shifts Monday-Thursday. Our spacious facility includes two large surgical suites, digital radiography, a CT scanner, and in-door / out-door break areas.
- Responsibilities and experience include but are not limited-
- Valid California RVT license
- Assist doctors and staff with patients : surgery, exams, treatments, and radiographs
- Surgery Scrub Nurse
- Client Communication
- Care of patients pre / peri / post-surgical and general treatments
- At least 2 years of experience in Anesthesia and Surgery
- Safe animal handling and restraint
- IV catheter placement & venipuncture
- Complete preoperative anesthesia planning
- Ability to calculate drug doses
- Appropriately intubate and secure airway
- Maintenance of an appropriate level of sedation or anesthesia with injectable or inhalant anesthetics
- Display and apply knowledge of a mechanical ventilator function
- Display ability to perform safe practice of locoregional anesthesia techniques
- Ability to calculate and deliver constant rate infusions
- Ability to interpret physiological parameters (heart rate, respiratory rate, end-tidal / inspired CO2, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, body temperature, basic ECG tracings)
- Ability to perform basic recovery procedures and recognize when other interventions are required such as administration of sedation / analgesia, administration of supplemental oxygen, and re-intubation
- Ability to assess pain and perform post operative pain scoring
- Ability to perform basic and advanced life support under the supervision of a veterinarian during a CPR event
- Perform procedural checks and routine cleaning of equipment and report malfunctions
- Accurate recordkeeping, self-motivation, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted and be able to stand, sit, and kneel for potentially long periods.
- Consistent willingness to learn, organized, and punctual
