General Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Organizational Development and Learning, the Health Equity Director will assist in the development and implementation of health equity initiatives, including building internal and external capacity to address the root causes of health inequities through planning, implementation, and evaluation of processes. Provides leadership, in a team approach, to address local community efforts addressing health inequities. Tracks and coordinates health equity activities. Assists in the development of internal and external communication strategies on health equity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates training and guidance of staff.
- Provides internal leadership to the collaboration with the Health Equity Steering Team to determine and prioritize local community needs.
- Strategizes and develops local community-wide planning, implementation and evaluation of efforts to address the root causes of health inequities.
- Builds relationships with local community partners to identify and advance local community policy and program agendas.
- Participates in the development of annual program and strategic plan goals and assess progress towards the achievement of the determined goals.
- Participates in the process of grant work and work plan development and / or revisions.
- Assists in the research, development, and design of education materials.
- Manages challenging internal customer relation situations and proactively look for service areas in need of improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in a related field (public health, social work, psychology, sociology, communications, etc.) required.Work Experience
Three (3) years' experiences in Social Work, Care Management, Project Management required. Experience in community health outreach or rural health improvement initiatives preferred. Management experience in similar field required. Ability to communicate effectively, direct and manage projects and programs, prepare technical reports, and show proficiency in advanced computer skills.Mental / Physical Requirements
Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time with frequent interruptions. Light lifting (15 lbs.) required. Standing, sitting and walking required.Working Conditions
Standard office conditions; clean, well lit, climate controlled environment.
