As our Vice President Counsel in the Legal department, you will provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters related to the AAA's mission and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement; candidates must reside at a U.S. location within 125 miles of their assigned office location. Compensation will be determined based on geographic location.

Salary ranges by location :

Charlotte; Miami; San Antonio – $146,847 – $154,576

Atlanta; Buffalo; Dallas; Detroit; Fresno – $155,218 – $163,387

Houston; Johnston; Minneapolis – $134,182 – $149,552

Chicago; Denver; Philadelphia; – $140,298 – $156,369

Boston; Los Angeles – $146,040 – $162,769

New York City; San Francisco – $155,775 – $173,620

This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advises on legal issues impacting AAA operations
  • Defends AAA in litigation, retaining and supervising outside counsel
  • Assists with corporate policy development and implementation
  • Negotiates, drafts, and reviews contracts, leases, and agreements
  • Conducts legal research and prepare opinions
  • Counsels executives on legal aspects of activities and cases
  • Reviews and drafts AAA case administration rules
  • Monitors changes in relevant laws and regulations
  • Assists with compliance processes
  • Speaks to groups regarding ADR
  • Serves on AAA committees as assigned
  • Supports corporate governance matters
  • Attend on-site meetings and training sessions
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable job attendance

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • Must be licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. Jurisdiction
  • 7-10 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in corporate law, alternative dispute resolution, or a related field
  • Required Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate law, alternative dispute resolution, and relevant state and federal regulations. Ability to interpret complex legal issues and provide sound advice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to express complex legal concepts clearly to both legal and non-legal audiences. Strong presentation and negotiation skills.

    Sharp analytical skills with the ability to identify potential legal issues, assess risks, and develop effective solutions. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking and sound judgment.

  • Ability to lead and mentor legal team members, manage outside counsel, and collaborate effectively with executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of business operations and the ability to align legal strategies with organizational goals. Proficiency in legal technology and case management systems.
