Job Description :
- The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will support our diverse range of manufacturing projects.
- The senior mechanical engineer will be supporting efforts throughout the site to maintain and improve the processes that go on every day.
- As an engineer in the crop protection team, the position is a key member in the plant that works every day to improve sustainable agriculture.
- This role is responsible for performing all aspects for a complete design of complex mechanical engineering assignments.
- Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in mechanical engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis.
- This work will be performed under the supervision of the mechanical lead.
- The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer with serve as the project manager for their assigned projects for which they will also perform the mechanical engineering services for.
- This requires the incorporation of other disciplines to successfully complete the assigned projects on time and on budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the followingFamiliarity with and utilizing the client and Luling design and drafting standardsMastery of the Gated System and their respective documentation requirements; FEL 1 (Project Acceptance), FEL 2 (Project Charter) and FEL 3 (Project Scope)Development of preliminary project description, schedule and cost estimates upon project assignmentAccomplishing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, equipment and material procurement specifications, calculations and piping estimates.Developing conceptional layouts / cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving the engineering task at hand; including not to proceed with the work if not feasible / cost attractive.Producing estimate level preliminary designs / material take-offs for the level of estimate being performed on a projectDevelopment of formal project scopes and capital request documentationProducing detailed design calculations and sketches for material of constructions associated with the project.Reviewing and checking vendor / other discipline drawings for mechanical inputChecking calculations and equipment specifications by others to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, industry standards, design criteria, site / global standards and conformance to good engineering practiceIn-depth knowledge of design standards and codes as applicable to rotating and static piping systems and equipmentKnowledge of good design practices for piping systems, sizing of compressible fluid piping, flexibility and stress analysis of piping systems, application and knowledge of piping supportsIdentification of need for safety devices (PSVs, PSE, CVs) and phase separation equipment (steam traps, liquid strainers)Produce designs with efficient use of construction material with emphasis on ease of construction and meeting the project goalsEstimate and schedule professional service hours and assess the progress / quality of the mechanical workAssist other engineers in developing and assembling scopes, drawings / specifications into packages, enabling mechanical purchase inquiries to be issued for procurement and materials or for subcontract pricing.This may include packaged equipment where soliciting input from other disciplines to provide requirements for associated structural, instrument and electrical aspects of the scope.Perform fieldwork necessary to gather field date, check tie-ins and provide construction supportProject approval, procurement, and budget forecastingProvide technical and project management guidance to less experienced engineering and drafting personnel in the departmentDevelopment of construction work scope / packages and onsite support during construction, commissioning and / or startupReviewing fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptlyConsulting with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the projectKnowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements to produce all mechanical deliverablesProject Quality Assurance and Quality control direction and supportProject closureQUALIFICATIONS
