Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring strong CVICU skills, a NJ or compact RN license, and competency with advanced cardiac devices.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) within a hospital setting
  • Care for critically ill patients including fresh hearts, ventilated patients, and those with chest tubes, lumbar drains, or renal failure
  • Typical patient ratio is 1 : 1-2 depending on acuity
  • Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (7 : 00 to 19 : 30)
  • Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Float to all ICUs, PACU, Emergency Department (for ICU holding patients), and all IMC units
  • Use of advanced equipment such as Swan-Ganz, FloTrac, temporary pacers, arterial lines, ventilators, chest tubes, Impella, IABP, and CRRT with Prismaflex
  • EMR system is Epic
  • Provide post-operative care and advanced cardiac support for open heart and critically ill cardiac patients
  • Must assist with chest tube insertion and removal and advanced life support interventions
  • First time travelers are welcome
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • No block scheduling allowed and all schedule requests must be approved before booking
  • RTO requests are prioritized if submitted up front; no changes allowed after contract begins
  • RNs previously employed by the health system must have a one year separation before being eligible for travel assignments
  • Completion of pre-start Epic and unit-specific training modules is required
  • Holiday coverage is required according to department needs

  • Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years acute care RN experience
  • Strong CVICU experience with fresh open hearts (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR), BiPAP / CPAP, 12 lead EKG, post-op open heart recovery, and advanced cardiac device management
  • SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training
  • Must be able to float within scope of skillset as needed
  • Epic charting experience preferred
