Job Overview
The Valve Technician plays a key role in executing assigned processing tasks. This includes setting up, operating, cleaning, and troubleshooting production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair sanitary valves including divert valves, butterfly valves, ball valves, and check valves throughout pasteurization, CIP (Clean-in-Place), and product transfer systems to ensure optimal flow control and product integrity.Perform preventive maintenance on pneumatic and hydraulic valve actuators, control systems, and associated instrumentation while maintaining detailed maintenance logs and following manufacturer specifications.Conduct valve calibration and testing to verify proper operation, seal integrity, and response times while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and sanitary design requirements.Troubleshoot valve-related production issues by diagnosing mechanical failures, control system malfunctions, and flow problems to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production operations.Execute sanitary valve installations for new equipment and process modifications while adhering to 3-A sanitary standards, FDA regulations, and company engineering specifications for dairy processing systems.Maintain valve inventory and documentation by managing spare parts, tracking valve performance data, coordinating with procurement for replacement components, and updating maintenance schedules to optimize equipment reliability.Min. Qualifications
A minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required.Technical training or electrical / mechanical technician degreeMinimum 2-3 years’ experience within the mechanical fieldMinimum 1 year experience in the repair and rebuild of valves.Minimum 1 year experience in processingExperience with programmable logic controllers, instruments, and controlsFood manufacturing background is a plus.Byrne
