Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have :

• General Med / Tele skillset
• Stroke experience / NIH assessments
• Chest tube management
• PIV starts
• Trach care
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• NGT placement
• Drain / tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion / management)
• PCA pumps medication management (cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF)

Description :

The position requires an RN specialized in MedSurg / Telemetry.

The facility has 109 licensed beds and is designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.

Census averages around 20 patients with a maximum of 27 beds.

The usual patient ratio is 1 RN to 5-6 patients, depending on acuity, with potential increases to 1 : 7-8 during surge staffing.

CNA support is available in the department for assistance with patient care, which includes vital signs, activities of daily living, and certain procedures if certified.

There is also a receptionist / HUC facility role on the day shift only.

Charge nurses may have a patient assignment but this can vary.

Phlebotomy services are available 24 / 7.

Telemetry monitoring is also conducted around the clock.

Floating may be expected within the region and scope of practice as needed.

All necessary equipment includes EMR systems and IV pumps among others.
