This is a highly responsible leadership position involving the planning, organizing, leading and controlling of all phases of the Buffalo City School District's transportation program and the maintenance of the district fleet. The Director of Transportation has responsibility for all pupil transportation modes including district operated, contractor operated and public transit. The Director of Transportation is responsible for the operation of a safe transportation program that provides excellent service for children, parents and schools within the most efficient framework possible. S / he reports directly to the School Superintendent or a designee and supervision is exercised over all personnel assigned to the function. The incumbent must be available 24 / 7.

Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education / U.S. Secretary of Education, in Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field and six years of full-time progressively responsible administrative experience managing a large unit in business, government or transportation services including budget development, personnel management, contract management and program implementation responsibilities.

Special Requirements : Possession of a valid New York State Driver's License that must be presented at time of filing application and maintained during employment. Applicants must obtain Certification as a New York State School Bus Driver Instructor within 18 months of appointment.
