Department Information

Our nationally recognized Psychology Program offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees and is distinguished by its roots in humanistic, transpersonal, and critical psychologies. Building on this foundation, our faculty and students engage with a wide range of approaches, including existential / phenomenological, depth, feminist, sociocultural, and parapsychological traditions. We emphasize qualitative inquiry, social justice, and studies of consciousness and spirituality.

Job Summary

The Psychology Program at the University of West Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology beginning in Fall 2026. We seek a teacher-scholar whose research and teaching embrace integrative, qualitative, and socially engaged approaches to psychology.

Please note : Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, primarily in person on our Carrollton campus, with possible assignments at the Newnan and / or Douglasville campuses.
• Contribute to online instruction as needed.
• Develop and sustain an active program of research and scholarship.
• Mentor students at all levels, including supervision of theses and dissertations.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service.
