• Employment Type : Travel\n\nJob Description\n\nAmerican Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med / Surg Tele position in a Level II Trauma Center with night shifts and a minimum of one year specialty experience required.\n\nResponsibilities\n
• Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical Unit (G5) with telemetry monitoring\n
• Unit has 44 private and semi-private rooms and cares for adult medical patients excluding primary cardiac cases\n
• Common patient diagnoses include stroke, COPD, respiratory illnesses, GI bleed, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, and non-operable fractures\n
• Telemetry monitoring is standard for patient care on this unit\n
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6 at night, may vary with acuity and support levels\n
• Uses Cerner EMR (experience not required), Alaris, and Pyxis equipment\n
• 12-hour night shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM with every other weekend required\n
• No call required\n
• Floating may be required to any area with Med / Tele patients within or below the RN scope\n
• Primary responsibilities include caring for a diverse range of medical patients with telemetry needs and executing complex med / surg nursing duties\n
• Support team on the unit includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws), RT, hospitalist, PT / OT / ST (days), and a unit resource RN (0700-1900 as staffing allows)\n
• Two days of hospital orientation plus one unit shift provided\n
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n
• Flu vaccination is required during flu season; medical exemptions only are considered with pre-approval\n
• Professional attire required; any color scrubs allowed, but must be professional with no crocs with holes, artificial nails, or personal cell phone use except during breaks\n
• Parking is free in designated areas\n
• Holiday time off is not permitted during assignment\n\nRequirements\n
• Active ME or Compact RN license required\n
• Minimum one year recent experience in Med / Surg Tele specialty\n
• Current BLS certification required\n
• NIHSS and ACLS certifications preferred\n
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting rhythm strips is required\n
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, heparin drips, and general med / surg skills such as trach care and chest tube management is preferred\n
• Candidates must not have worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity\n
