Business Applications Director

Wake County's Information Technology team is seeking a Business Applications Director to serve as a technical and business leader, guiding a team of professionals who deliver critical applications and services across the organization. Essential Functions :

  • Managing the portfolio of application services and introducing improved efficiencies and effectiveness that strengthens alignment of services with the needs of the Wake County organization
  • Responsible for the planning, directing and coordinating of division teams in delivering applications and database management services and projects supporting enterprise resource planning, land systems, enterprise content management, social services and public health
  • Developing short and long-term strategies for services and the division that align with department and county plans
  • Managing operating budgets for the applications supported as well as budgets for specific major capital improvement plan projects being managed by division teams
  • Implementing major systems and other modernization efforts

Note : This is a 60% hybrid role and requires working onsite at the Raleigh, NC office.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) :

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in business application design and administration.
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

  • Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) :

  • Master's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering or related field
  • 6-10 years' experience with application life cycle management, agile software development principles and project management
  • Experience managing large integrated SQL Server and Oracle database systems in virtual environments

  • Knowledgeable in developing strategic plans, organizational structures and systems to fulfill organizational goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate, oral and written, to all levels of the organization
  • Skills in logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems
  • Ability to apply agile methodologies for leadership and guiding change
  • Ability to be adaptive, nimble and able to pivot when business priorities shift

    Employment Type : Regular

    Work Schedule : Mon - Fri 8 : 30am - 5 : 15pm

    Hiring Range : 155,000 - 168,000

    Market Range : 118,138.00 - 212,647.00
