Site Services Engineering Manager
The Site Services Engineering Manager provides leadership and technical oversight for the engineering organization supporting Evonik's Tippecanoe Labs Site Services. This role manages a team of process and plant engineers responsible for utilities, solvent recovery, waste treatment, incineration, and facility systems. The manager ensures operational reliability, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and continuous improvement while executing capital projects and supporting business line objectives. This position also drives strategic equipment and asset management, fosters team development, and maintains collaboration with manufacturing, customers, and central engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of process and plant engineers supporting utilities, waste treatment, and solvent systems.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with cGMP, safety, environmental, and Evonik engineering standards.
- Oversee reliability of site infrastructure and minimize equipment downtime through preventive maintenance and root cause analysis.
- Direct and coordinate capital projects from design to commissioning, including budgets up to $10M.
- Develop and maintain engineering specifications, maintenance strategies, and technical documentation.
- Manage maintenance budgets and long-term capital investment planning for Site Services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement new technologies to optimize plant performance.
- Serve as primary engineering liaison with internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical expertise across process disciplines such as heat / mass transfer, material science, and utilities.
- Recruit, coach, and develop engineering staff to build a high-performing and compliant organization.
- Oversee ESHS participation and ensure adherence to corporate safety and quality systems.
- Champion teamwork, communication, and professional development within the department.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, related engineering, or chemistry required.Minimum 10 years of chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing and capital project experience.Proven experience managing engineering teams in multi-facility or multi-technology environments.Strong technical problem-solving ability and practical engineering knowledge.Demonstrated leadership in project management, process improvement, and maintenance optimization.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to influence across departments and manage stakeholder expectations.Advanced computer proficiency across engineering and business software.Strong understanding of process safety, cGMP, and compliance standards.Experience managing large budgets and capital investments (>$10M).
