Systems Manager

Position Description :
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology this person will be responsible forthe design, implementation, and management of the district’s networks (WAN / LAN / WLAN, Intranet,Internet), Cisco telephone Intranet, and servers (site and district) including the hardware, software, andother related technology and overall desktop support.
Job Responsibilities :
- Configure and maintain district wide networks (WAN / LAN / WLAN, Intranet, Internet) including thedesign, implementation, security, maintenance / troubleshooting, proactive monitoring / analysis, anddocumentation of these systems.
- Configure and maintain the Cisco IP telephone Intranet as well as Informacast systems
- Manage external relationships / contracts with vendors and consultants in collaboration with theDirector of Information Technology.
- Configure and maintain district wide technical support system in collaboration with the Director ofInformation Technology.
- Provide Tier II and Tier III support of desktops and desktop software. Install / upgrade and coordinatewith escalation points to resolve file, email and application related issues.
- Provide vision and leadership in the research, purchase, and maintenance of district wide hardwareand software (computer, network, telecommunications, and audio / visual products).
- Provide vision and leadership in the training and support of district and schools on networkadministration and other technical issues.
- Maintain knowledge of developments in technology that support and enhance the school district’snetwork systems and personnel.
- Perform system maintenance and upgrades during off-peak / non-production hours so as to lessen theimpact to end-users.
- Manage and maintain local and off-site backups, backup software and media.
- Write programs and code to streamline and automate various processes.
- Manage and maintain multiple local and web-based user databases.
- Supervise technical support team as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
2 - 4 years of experience with network (WAN / LAN / WLAN, Intranet, Internet)maintenance / troubleshooting, analysis, management, and support.Proficient with network standards including but not limited to : DNS, 10Base-T, 100Base-T,1000Base-T, Ethernet, SNMP, TCP-IP, SMTP—and network media—copper and fiber and wirelesstechnologies.Proficient with network hardware, routers, managed switches, wireless access points and othernetwork appliances currently in use in the environment.Proficient with multi-platform (MAC and PC) computer hardware and software. To include,VMWare and MDM solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort providing technical support to end-users.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Review and interpret complex technical information and analyze situations to define issues and drawconclusions.Ability to perform multiple, technical, highly complex tasks with need to regularly upgrade skills tomeet dynamic job conditions.Flexibility to independently work with others in a variety of circumstances.Ability to write programs and code in order to automate tasks and processes on our systems.Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.Must be team-oriented, responsible, dependable, and possess a positive outlook. Must be energeticand thrive in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.Cisco Certified Network Associate certification or equivalent certifications or experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
