Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Full time
Job Summary
Villages Senior Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our interdisciplinary care team. The ideal candidate will provide evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions for senior residents experiencing speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders. This role is essential in promoting independence, safety, and an enhanced quality of life for older adults living in our skilled nursing and long-term care communities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents with communication and swallowing disorders, including cognitive-linguistic deficits.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address communication, speech, language, voice, and swallowing needs.
Provide swallowing therapy and dysphagia management , including recommendations for diet modifications and safe feeding strategies.
Educate and train residents, families, and staff on communication strategies, compensatory techniques, and safe swallowing practices.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team , including nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and dietary staff, to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
Participate in care planning meetings and contribute to the development of resident-centered goals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Stay informed on best practices, therapy techniques, and emerging tools relevant to geriatric speech-language pathology .
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program .
Current and valid SLP license in the state.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
Experience working in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) or with older adults is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of age-related communication and swallowing disorders , such as aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication impairments, and dysphagia.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
